PUKE Apparel / The official garment care guide
Keep the chaos.
Look after your gear.
Your PUKE gear is made to be worn, not left sitting in a drawer. But loud prints still need a little love. The way you wash, dry and handle your T-shirts and hoodies can make a real difference to how your garment and its graphic look over time.
Whether you're new to the crew or your favourite tee has already seen a few car meets, this is how to help keep it looking fully sick.
The 10-second care guide
If you remember nothing else, remember these six rules for printed PUKE T-shirts and hoodies.
Keep direct heat away from printed graphics. We recommend avoiding ironing printed PUKE garments; never place an iron directly on a design.
How to wash your PUKE gear
A good wash routine is simple. Less heat, less rough handling and a bit of care for the print.
-
Check the care label
Read the care label inside your garment and any product-specific instructions. Different items may have different requirements.
-
Turn it inside out
Flip the garment before washing to help reduce rubbing against the printed design. Separate light and dark colours.
-
Cold water. Gentle cycle.
Choose a cold machine wash and a gentle cycle where available. Avoid harsh or heavy washing programs.
-
Choose a mild detergent
Use a mild laundry detergent. Leave out bleach and fabric softener; neither belongs in your PUKE print-care routine.
-
Line dry in the shade
Take the garment out of the machine promptly and hang it to dry in the shade. Avoid the tumble dryer and prolonged direct sunlight.
-
Wear it again
Let the garment dry completely before folding or storing. Treat the graphic gently and your gear will be better prepared for its next outing.
The do's & don'ts
Keep these rules handy before your next load of washing.
Do this
- Wash inside out to give the design some protection.
- Machine wash cold with similar colours.
- Use a gentle cycle wherever possible.
- Choose a mild detergent for routine washing.
- Line dry in the shade and let it dry completely.
- Follow the garment care label if it specifies additional or stricter instructions.
Don't do this
- Don't hot wash or expose prints to unnecessary heat.
- Don't tumble dry printed garments.
- Don't bleach or add fabric softener.
- Don't dry clean your printed PUKE apparel.
- Don't iron directly over any print — avoid ironing printed garments.
- Don't leave it in strong sun for prolonged periods.
- Don't scrub or aggressively rub a printed graphic.
The print is part of the gear. Look after both.
Many PUKE Apparel graphic garments use DTF (Direct to Film) printing, which makes detailed, bold artwork possible. Like other garment prints, that finished graphic can be affected by excessive heat, abrasive handling and unsuitable washing methods.
Hot washing, tumble drying, harsh chemicals or ironing over a design can contribute to unwanted changes in a print's appearance and in the fabric itself. Cold, gentle washing and shade drying help reduce the risk of avoidable fading, cracking, lifting, peeling and shrinkage.
Care helps — it isn't a guarantee against normal wear. Every garment changes with use and time. Following the care instructions gives your PUKE gear a better chance of staying in good condition for longer.
Garment care FAQs
Straight answers to the questions we want every PUKE customer to know.
Can I put my PUKE T-shirt or hoodie in the washing machine?
Yes, for printed garments whose care labels allow machine washing. Turn the item inside out, wash in cold water with similar colours, use mild detergent and select a gentle cycle where possible. Always check the label for any product-specific instructions.
Can I use a tumble dryer?
No. PUKE's printed garment care instructions say not to tumble dry. Line dry in the shade instead.
Can I use bleach or fabric softener?
No. Avoid bleach and fabric softener when washing printed PUKE gear. A mild detergent is the preferred option.
Can I iron over a PUKE graphic?
